Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Training Manager to be placed in Bentley Park, Carletonville. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Services Executive.The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
· Be responsible for the management and performance of the M&R Training Academy (MRTA) that mainly offers training across the full value chain of mechanised mining, and includes all facilities (buildings, hostels, mock-ups etc.)
· Effective implementation of the training strategy in line with the budget to ensure MRTA sustainability and profitability
· Effective resourcing, performance management & team leadership to achieve outputs in line with the project / client SLAs
· Establish satellite training service offerings for projects within SA and across borders
· Recommend, design, develop & implement innovative learning & development programs that support objectives
· Assess needs, analyse gaps, research best practice & partner with project executives & clients to identify, develop & implement successful site specific training programs
· Develop & implement program processes & procedures to maintain records & track learning outcomes
· Build & maintain stakeholder relationships (service providers, external clients, governing bodies , tertiary institutions etc.)
· Effective marketing management of ETD mechanised mining & engineering products and services, explore & secure external customers to increase revenue potential
· Maintain MRTA quality management systems & accreditations including ISO and the relevant governing body pillars of accreditation & successfully recover training levies
· Effective management of the overall BBBEE Skills Development function to support Level 1 rating
· Effective management of the skills development budget & preparation of quarterly assessments / overhead analysis
· Enhance TMM training to support operational capabilities and manage effective training cycle turnaround
· Proactive risk management & mitigation in line with the MHSA, all Labour Related Legislation, the SETA, ISO standards, out of country regulations and M&RC’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
· Effective self & team management in alignment with M&RC’s values & leadership initiative
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills :
· Diploma/BTech Human Resources Development with a Mining or Engineering qualification / Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency / TradeQualification OR, National Diploma/BTech/BSc Mining Engineering / Engineering with a relevant Human Resources Development or Training & Development qualification
· Business related qualification
· Proficient in MS Office; Valid Driver’s license and Passport
· Strategic, entrepreneurial & commercial thinking skills, with understanding of business processes, budgeting & financial mng.
· Strong work ethic with ability to deliver results & meet customer expectations
· Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
· Passionate about training, safety leadership & engagement
· Excellent communication skills with ability to persuade, influence, negotiate & facilitate understanding at all levels
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
· Minimum 10 years of experience in T&D, with 5 years at management level, in the mining industry
· Proven depth of experience leading large teams and contributing to / implementing mining T&D initiatives
· Experience developing & implementing an organisation wide learning & development plan, covering design & implementation of innovate learning & development programmes (face-to-face, e-learning, simulations, transformational technologies etc.)
· Experience managing a training budget & balancing training spend with return on investment
· Experience building client relationships, promoting & marketing training capabilities, including tendering for new work
· Sound knowledge of T&D methods, frameworks & adult learning principles and training delivery techniques
· Understanding of the Mine Health & Safety Act, all other relevant Labour Relations Legislation and knowledge of the various mining methodologies & skills training aligned to the rules, regulations & scope of the relevant governing training bod
