Senior Technology Manager - Energy Systems (m/f/n)
Location: Bonn, Aachen/flexible across Germany
Primary function:
Direct the development and execution of advanced technology projects leveraging German and European government funding with internal and external stakeholders.
Work closely with a team of scientists and engineers specializing in various technology areas that are part of the Energy Systems Technologies Department of Eaton's Corporate Research Organization. Provide leadership to the department in terms of strategic guidance and coaching.
Champion technology realization programs utilizing our internal project execution processes.
Facilitate communication and cooperation between Eaton locations in the region and globally.
Foster an environment for creativity while promoting the generation of value-added intellectual property.
Working closely with a team of scientists and engineers specializing in various technology areas that are part of the Energy Systems Technologies Department of Eaton's Corporate Research Organization.
Further broader goals/responsibilities for this role are:
- The principal goal includes developing research proposals and obtaining government funding to advance research in the area of Energy Systems as relevant for Eaton, as well as develop and maintaining relationships with the external technical community.
- The position is also developing technology roadmaps and strategies as it relates to European region, as well as developing and managing relationships with Eaton stakeholders (engineering, product lines, government programs team) and champion technology realization and sound business case.
- Moreover, the position will realization programs utilizing our internal project control processes and provide leadership to the department in terms of guidance, coaching and development of the technical staff.
- The position will report to the VP Engineering & Technology EMEA and functional to the Global Technology Manager
We would like you to bring:
- PhD or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution required
- Minimum of 7 years' industrial experience in power and energy systems area
- Solid R&D experience in distributed energy resource (DER) integration and management, microgrid, power distribution systems modeling, analysis, monitoring and control, protection, EV charging infrastructure and its grid integration
- Experience in developing and executing EU and German government funded projects to advance research and product development in power and energy systems area very welcome
- Experience on managing lab/experimental infrastructure including both power and control hardware in the loop testing facilities
- Strong experience in program management, new product development & innovation process
- Experience with proven track record in new technology development with multiple stakeholders in a matrixed organization across various technology areas.
- Business acumen with proven record of formulating value proposition.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and German (oral and written)
