Overview
Hire Resolve is seeking an experienced Estimating Buyer to join our client at their leading construction firm.
In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials and services for construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
Cost Estimation:
Create accurate cost estimates for materials, equipment, and services needed for construction projects. Review project plans and drawings to figure out material and labor needs. Work with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project details. Research market prices to find cost-saving opportunities.
Tender Management:
Prepare and send out Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Invitations to Tender (ITTs) to suppliers and subcontractors. Review and compare tenders to make sure they meet project requirements and budget. Work with stakeholders to evaluate tender submissions. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for the best terms and prices. Prepare and submit tender documents with cost estimates and recommendations.
Supplier and Subcontractor Management:
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors. Assess and qualify suppliers to ensure they meet project standards. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or cost.
Budget and Financial Management:
Create detailed budgets based on cost estimates and tender submissions. Track project costs and compare them to budgets to control spending. Prepare financial reports to support project decisions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Keep detailed records of cost estimates, tenders, contracts, and procurement documents. Prepare and present reports on estimating and procurement activities to senior management. Ensure all documents follow company policies and industry regulations.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure procurement activities meet legal and regulatory standards. Follow quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards in estimating and procurement. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies.
Continuous Improvement:
Look for ways to improve estimating and procurement processes. Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies to enhance performance
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Estimating Buyer in the construction or related industry. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
