The Group Maintenance Manager (new position) is required to manage and implement maintenance systems, processes and monitoring activities for the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery and facilities. This role will be responsible for transforming and managing the maintenance and reliability engineering function for the group of companies operating in both Industrial abs Municipal sectors. This will require an upliftment of current standards and processes to world class levels of preventative and predictive maintenance and reliability solutions as well as the intelligent use of data analytics for business enhancement transforming the maintenance approach up from preventative maintenance to a predictive and risk based maintenance practices. This position reports to the CEO.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Leadership
• Develop, update and facilitate the implementation of group asset management strategy and objectives.
• Review and update Asset management policies
• Develop and implement maintenance and asset management scorecards across the group of companies.
• Facilitate cross pollination, learnings and integration between companies, sites, various department and specifically the engineering department
• Develop and provide E,M&I maintenance and reliability solutions to ensure operational and maintenance excellence.
• Develop and lead a culture of world class maintenance and asset management principles and values.
• Develop relationships with suppliers and service providers with a view to improve service provision and supply chain process.
• Buy-in from all stakeholder to adopt vision, roadmap, new methods and best practices across all group operations.
Asset management system
• Management, maintenance and improvement of CMMS systems.
• Implementation of the required CMMS (including spares management) on all new sites.
• Develop and maintenance of operational and strategic maintenance reports.
• Ensure that gaps and opportunities are identified through the analysis of maintenance data and trends. Continuous improvement projects to be identified and implemented.
• Ensure that preventative maintenance and spares systems are developed, implemented, optimised & maintained.
• Maintain and improve effective administration and control procedures to meet group performance objectives.
Asset Management
• Manage the maintenance processes to ensure the optimal functioning of production processes.
• Implement and monitor critical maintenance KPIs to ensure production and business risk is minimise and asset life cycle cost are optimised.
• Enforce compliance to standard operating procedures, contractual agreements and safety guidelines and deals with non-conformances when required.
• Provide guidance and co-ordinate where required with all suppliers in terms of spares, equipment and materials with the objective to obtain high quality materials and critical high-value spares at competitive prices.
• Conduct audits and compile action plans
• Ensure efficient management and control of Condition Monitoring functions.
• Guide and assist compilation of internal and external maintenance reports and attend client meetings where required.
• Assist, guide and control best practice in terms of Root Cause analysis.
• Develop pool of E,M&I expertise
Learning / competency / technology development
• Champion strategic development in new technologies and systems to drive predictive and reliability best practices
• Advice on breakdowns and corrective maintenance to ensure minimal down time and improved reliability
• Lead all risk and change management initiatives
• Drive standardization and best practices in E,M&I maintenance excellence and reliability throughout the group
• Facilitate lessons learnt and feedback sessions and platforms throughout the group
• Ensure efficient resource management to ensure they are able to meet the performance objectives required of them.
• Implement a strategic organisational and maintenance resource competency improvement though training, coaching, career pathing and talent management
• Investigate technology and maintenance system improvements such as automation systems, asset management solutions, predictive solutions, information management, technical information systems.
• Provide technical input to the preparation of tenders as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
• A technical engineering tertiary graduate qualification (BSc Eng / B Eng) with mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and / or reliability engineering with the right exposure preferred
• A proven track record of 15+ years hands on technical experience in E,M&I maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Computer literate i.e. Microsoft packages with previous experience in computerized maintenance management systems
• Proven ability & application of data driven maintenance and ability to integrate maintenance activities into ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
• Proven ability to lead key initiatives; motivates teams to work collaboratively to achieve objectives. Achieves organizational focus on key priorities. Provides clear direction, delegates, and actively communicates.
