JOB PURPOSE, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of the job
The role provides technical accounting and tax related services to the company and SPVs in order to achieve high level reporting requirements.
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the financial reporting of the business, the preparation of annual separate and consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS and relevant legislation. The role includes providing technical tax and IFRS opinion on the impact of investment transactions
You will assist the investment team with valuation and due diligence of new investments and of current valuation of portfolio assets.
Skills relevant to the job include the education and/or experience, specialised training and competencies required by the incumbent to be able to perform the job in accordance with specified expectations:
Technical or core knowledge/skill Required
• Technical understanding and keen interest of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Understanding and implementation of SA Taxation
• Understanding Companies Act
• Management of Audits
• Maintaining financial records, analysing balance sheet and general ledger accounts
• Budgeting
• Experience in preparation of financial statements using Caseware
• Understanding of Hyperion, Sage X3 ERP system, SARS Efilling
Qualification/s
B. Com Honours/CTA degree in Financial accounting, with professional registration as a CA
Reason for Essential qualification
An incumbent in this position will have to assist Group Manager Finance to carry out his financial accounting responsibilities in areas ranging from budget preparation to financial reporting and the development and maintenance of internal control policies and procedures.
Soft skills/organisational leadership, etc.
Strong analytical, Time Management, Attention to Detail, quantitative skills and high attention to detail, Problem solving
