Trade Marketing Associate
What this position is about – Purpose:
In this role, you will be jointly responsible with the Channel Manager to develop competitive channel strategies, business planning and support for execution excellence of the strategic plans for the Township trade channels. The position is to develop in collaboration with key business stakeholders a competitive, effective, sustainable channel strategies and initiatives within the Township Trade. The focus is on retail stores and related RTM /RTC structures with an extended collaboration with other channel custodians to ensure a JTI 360 RTC strategy that supports customer and consumer-centric cross-channel plans. The position's scope will include a broad involvement in key Trade Marketing business practices. Based in HQ providing the required support to national, regional, and cross-functional department requirements through collaboration and planning. The position will extend to the SA + market where required but with a focus on Southern Africa.
What will you do – Responsibilities:
Channel Strategy and Business Plans: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: Jointly develop longer-term strategic channel and business plans with the Channel manager. Management of the plans KPIs, Evaluation and reporting.
Development and planning of JTI's National Informal trade strategy that incorporates independent trade and Township geographical. The strategic plan development and management process is led by the channel manager with a strong contribution by the Trade Marketing Associate, with a cross-functional team collaboration, providing JTI with a highly competitive 360 and benchmarked business plan.
Channel Commercial Planning: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: A documented strategic 360 plan that is aligned with all stakeholders
The channel management team requires a formal documented strategic plan that incorporates an approved commercial and RTM plan, approved through the ASP Process. Commercial reporting and tracking of performance. Strong focus on cycle planning and deliverables.
Route to Market: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: Support and custodian a collaborative Sales and Trade Marketing national RTM strategy that is based on JTI’s Hybrid Model
Joint development and involvement with JTI's key stakeholders of our RTM plan and structure for the township-related trade channels, custodian the national structures with adoption to regional dynamics.
Customer Relationship Management: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: Provide and development of a formal CRM structure to support JTI as a trade partner of choice
Continued development and benchmarking to deliver JTI as the trade partner of choice through added value service and commercials. Working closely with other channel/account stakeholders to create a cross-channel customer engagement structure.
Brand and Trade Activation: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: Provide a highly competitive trade activation plan to support the channels brand activation requirements and strategies.
Development, planning and execution of a benchmarked and competitive trade activation strategy, involving key cross-functional stakeholders/experts. Plan to deliver balanced push and pull strategies, brand communication and activation to consumers and customer partnership structures to build long-term mutually beneficial business relationships to secure our activation at the Point of purchase (POC).
Regional Strategic Plans: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: Support and jointly develop strategic regional plans that support a RTC strategy.
With the national and regional stakeholders, assist in developing specific regional trade and brand plans through a formal commercial process. Work strategically with the teams and regional custodians.
Trade Insights and Analysis: Full responsibilities will be allocated for the associate within this KPI.
Scope: Standardization, coordination and reporting of trade analysis templates and providing trade insights where required to drive national and regional business plans and targeting.
Utilize trade and consumer data to support with cross-functional custodians that guide JTI’s business plans and execution targeting. Provide the cross-functional teams with relevant insights to assist in knowledge transfer and provide winning plans. Track performance and adjust strategies where required.
Whom are we looking for – Requirements:
Tertiary Qualification; Business or Marketing 5 Years + FMCG Experience with a focus on developing channel and trade strategies, including a strong understanding of the Route to Consumer model. The position includes within RTC brand and trade activation development Proficiency in written and spoken English Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel Business Acumen; Project Management; Strategic Thinking Professionalism; Persuasive Ability; High Energy Levels; Excellence in Execution, Independent and Pro-Active
