- Production of risk reports for monthly ExCo and quarterly Risk Reports for SMBC-BI and CM Ltd;
- Production and enhancement of Risk Frameworks / Policies across SMBC-BI and CM Ltd;
- Maintaining an up to date log and audit trail of final Frameworks and Policies and alerting Management in advance of annual/other updates
- Co-ordinating and annual / periodic update to the Risk Appetite for SMBC-BI and CM Ltd for all risk stripes and ensuring in aggregate, the risk profile / recommendations remain appropriate;
- Co-ordination and production of annual disclosures and annual updates to the BI, CM Ltd and EMEA Risk Appetite
- Ad hoc work including assistance with the production of RRP/ICAAP/Regulatory Tracker and Shadow Banking Exposures
- Production of Reputational Risk Committee packs and production of a variety of information and evolving and streamlining these.
Background
This role requires a hands-on approach to production to ensure the timely and robust delivery across a number of monthly/quarterly/annual tasks for SMBCC-BI and CM Ltd. The incumbent will be proficient at various applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word to create information such as tables, graphs and other information in a presentable and streamlined manner.
Risk Reports and Frameworks
- Monthly production and self-review of ExCo reports and providing the information to senior management in a timely manner (such as ED Enterprise Risk and MDs/GMs). This will involve exploring opportunities for streamlining the process and working with colleagues to ensure the report can be produced earlier and removal of any current bottlenecks fully explored. This will involve using available technology solutions where applicable to streamline the process.
- Quarterly production of the Risk Reports including self-review and inclusion of feedback from senior management (as described above) – using available technology solutions where applicable to streamline the process.
- Annual updates and enhancement of Risk Frameworks and Policies (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management Policy), including co-ordination across different risk management teams
- Overall administration of the EMEA Risk meeting and suggesting possible areas for improvement.
- Production of the RMD annual review of the Corporate Strategy report, including highlighting any inconsistencies / issues for senior management and through discussion with RMD colleagues.
Risk Appetite and Disclosures:
- Supporting the Head of Enterprise Risk in the co-ordination, maintenance and enhancement of the annual SMBC-BI, CM Ltd and EMEA Risk Appetite ensuring alignment with Group / external expectations.
- Co-ordination with EMEA colleagues to ensure that proposals for changes to the Risk Appetite are discussed across the region and where feasible, consistently applied.
This role will include elements of Ad-hoc work including but not limited to:
- Participation in periodic RMD initiatives as required or assistance with the production of other annual reports during peak/seasonal periods (e.g., production of the annual RRP / ICAAP);
- Providing assistance to ERM colleagues for example in tracking / analysing regulations in the regulatory tracker.
- Responding to queries on Shadow Banking Exposures and working with colleagues to establish the right roles and responsibilities.
- Providing a reconciliation / limited Risk assurance on the data used for COREP / key results in a streamlined manner using available technology solutions.
- Production of committee packs – for example the Reputational Risk committee pack with self review and finalising with Team Heads.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Production of monthly and quarterly EMEA & SMBC BI Risk Reports;
- Regular updates/production of annual Risk Frameworks and Policies
- Preparation of RMD update following review of Corporate Strategy
- Supporting the Head in the production / annual update of Risk Appetite measures
- Production of annual disclosures for annual reports and Pillar 2 documents
- Assistance with production of other reports during seasonal /peak periods such as RRP and ICAAP
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- This is a hands-on role which requires experience of developing high quality reports in an efficient and scalable manner using standard Microsoft packages Word / Excel / PowerPoint and proficient with preparing charts / tables / presentations. Coding experience is considered a distinct advantage.
- Adept at managing multiple production tasks and managing workload during peak / seasonal periods.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) to senior management.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and collaboration and demonstrable track record in stakeholder management.
- Numerical proficiency
- Desirable: automation skills (e.g., using VBA);
- Ability to prepare key reports in a presentable format and can identify / manifest streamlining opportunities.
