*Overview:*
We’re looking for a keen and proactive *Skilled* *Welder / Fabricator* to join our manufacturing team, producing high-quality agricultural machinery for material handling and cultivation. You must be interested in this line of work and able to work from detailed technical drawings to fabricate and weld assemblies with precision, collaborating closely with colleagues and under the guidance of the Workshop Foreman and Production Manager.
This role is perfect for team players who are passionate about welding and fabrication, are happy to support their colleagues, and take satisfaction in producing quality work.
Pay is based on level of experience and skills/qualifications.
Individuals invited for interview will be asked to complete the company's job application form on arrival and take part in a short welding and fabrication task as part of the interview process. PPE can be provided.
Our village location is off the public transport routes and own transport is essential.
*Location & Commute Considerations:* This role is based at our site in Garton on the Wolds, and due to the nature of the work, it requires regular, reliable attendance in person. For operational reasons, we’re ideally seeking candidates within approximately a 30-minute commute. Applicants outside this range are welcome to apply, but should consider the long-term sustainability of the travel involved.
*Please note:* This role involves regular manual handling and physical activity, including lifting, bending, and working on your feet for extended periods. Applicants should be confident in their ability to meet these physical demands safely and effectively as part of the day-to-day responsibilities.
A 6 month probationary period applies.
*Duties*
* Interpret technical drawings and cut lists to fabricate accurately
* Trial-fit assemblies to ensure all pins and bars align during fabrication
* Perform own quality control checks and clean up assemblies to company standard
* Flag any drawing discrepancies or material defects in advance
* Follow H&S guidelines and use PPE appropriately—look out for your team
* Perform MIG welding on various steel grades including some stainless steel.
* Ensure welds meet strength, penetration, and visual standards
* Operate and maintain welding and fabrication equipment
* Report faults or breakdowns and assist with basic troubleshooting
* Use hand tools as required in the role
* Operate hoists, cranes, and FLTs (as trained)
* Keep your work area clean and organised to support safety and efficiency
* Support team members with lifting, positioning, and jig setup
* Participate in toolbox talks and continuous improvement initiatives
*Requirements*
* High level of experience in MIG welding and fabrication - formal welding qualifications preferred but not essential.
* Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings accurately
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Team player with good communication skills
* FLT license and crane/hoist experience (preferred but not essential, training provided)
* Proficiency in working with sheet metal and fabrication processes.
* Strong mechanical knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot as necessary.
* Competence in basic mathematics for accurate measurements and calculations.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to learn and contribute to a high-performing workshop
