Secondary Learning Support Assistant needed – High Peak - Temp‑to‑Perm opportunity – Step Teachers

We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist alternative education provision in High Peak for a Secondary Learning Support Assistant.
Secondary Learning Support Assistant (SEMH focus)
Location: High Peak, Derbyshire
Start: ASAP.
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4pm.
Contract: Temp-to-Perm – could move onto contract at end of 12 weeks.
Pay - £95-110/day DOE for first 12 weeks.
Paid PAYE direct via Step Teachers. We don’t use umbrella companies!
Equal pay to perm staff in similar role from 13th weeks.

This unique setting—recently designated as an alternative provision academy — supports pupils up to Key Stage 4 in small cohorts. It’s based in a serene part of High Peak and forms part of a multi‑site structure designed specifically to re-engage young people who have struggled in mainstream education. The environment is carefully structured, with small classes of around 10 students, high adult support ratios, and a tranquil setting aimed at encouraging positive behavioural change.

Your Role

Deliver 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs

Support emotional regulation, engagement, and transitions into learning

Work with staff to implement personalised plans and celebrate student progress
What You’ll Need to Apply:

A CV detailing up to 10 years of relevant experience.
